Oriole Advocates’ Used Baseball Equipment Program Moving to ‘The Diamond Collective’ in Pigtown

The Oriole Advocates Charitable Foundation’s ‘Cardboard to Leather’ program will relocate its operations to The Diamond Collective at 1205 S. Carey St. in Pigtown. The Diamond Collective is an indoor baseball facility and home to several baseball nonprofits.

The Cardboard to Leather program focuses on collecting and redistributing baseball and softball equipment to youth players and programs in need throughout the Baltimore area and around the world.

The Cardboard to Leather program will move into a renovated space in The Diamond Collective next to the baseball training areas. They expect to make the move from their current Halethorpe location by the end of May.

Cardboard to Leather will use the space for storage, collecting donations, and organizing the inventory.

Other organizations at The Diamond Collective include BUBA Baseball, Tony Gwynn Legacy East, Merrill Madness Foundation, and Baseball 4 Causes.

The Cardboard to Leather program has already collaborated with BUBA Baseball on equipment distribution efforts to Baltimore City youth baseball players and local community programs in need of equipment.

“The Diamond Collective was built to bring baseball organizations together under one roof to better serve the community,” said leadership from The Diamond Collective in a press release. “We are excited to welcome the Cardboard to Leather program and continue building opportunities for young athletes throughout Baltimore.”

Oriole Advocates also runs a Challenger Baseball program for children with special needs.

The Diamond Collective is a 20,000 sq. ft. building that features six baseball hitting tunnels, open turf space for training, and gym equipment. It offers camps, private training, and facility rentals.
